About Cody Johnson
Cody Johnson is a country music singer-songwriter who made his appearance on the music scene in 2006. But his start in music started long before while he was a child raised in East Texas. As it turns out, the young Cody Johnson reportedly began playing music as early as the age of 12.
This early affinity with music made it no surprise when he, in 2006, formed the Cody Johnson Band with his dad, Carl, and drummer Nathan Reedy. The trio recorded the album, Black and White Label that same year. The band then added Matt Rogers as a lead guitarist, and they recorded a live album in Huntsville. But soon after, Cody’s father quit the band.
The band’s first professionally produced album, Six Strings One Dream was released in September 2009, sometime after Danny Salinas joined the band on bass guitar. The album featured three singles that all reached the top 10 of the Texas music charts, giving the band some early fame and recognition.
Recent Cody Johnson Success
Cody Johnson didn’t rest on these early achievements however. He kept honing his talent, touring, and making music that evolved his presence on the country music scene that eventually led to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when he was the first unsigned/independent artist to play to a sold-out crowd on May 15, 2019.
But that was hardly surprising given the success of his 7th album, Ain’t Nothin’ to It, which was released on January 18, 2019. This album featured the single “On My Way to You” that became his first Top 40 hit on the Country Airplay chart.
Which is to say that Cody Johnson is undeniably a shining star burning bright with no end in sight.
